Rob Marshall

MSW, Supervisee, HE/HIM

I aim to create safe spaces to empower my clients to explore issues without judgment and at their own pace.

  • Rob has experience working with adolescents, adults, and families struggling with depression, anxiety, and ADHD.  He also has a special focus on trauma, using strategies of psychodynamic therapy, psychoeducation, DBT, and CBT to help individuals develop a deeper understanding of their symptoms while learning how to cope with them. Rob will also implement elements of inner child work as a method toward self-growth and self-care.

When Rob works with youth, he not only advocates for them, but also devotes care and patience into understanding the entire family dynamic in order to rebuild and strengthen connections. Rob believes in normalizing parents sometimes needing help and support in understanding certain aspects of their child’s needs.  He has experience working with the LGBTQ+ population.

Rob has experience with individuals of high risk and severe symptoms in intensive programs such as IOP, PHP, and residential care. Therefore, he empathizes with how difficult disclosing distressing thoughts or destructive behavior can be. Rob’s goal is to create a safe space where those issues can be explored, all without judgement, and at the client’s pace. Rob acknowledges the destructive power of shame and aims to help empower clients to conquer it.

Rob earned his Bachelor’s degree at New York University and his Master’s degree at George Mason University, both in Social Work.

In his leisure time, Rob enjoys weight training and helping others live healthier, having over 10 years’ experience as a fitness coach. He is also a self-proclaimed part-time geek of comic books and anime/manga.

  • Rob is trained in evidence-based psychotherapy techniques like Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) and Psychodynamic Therapy. He also has a special focus on trauma work.
